Progress in Urbanization

So we have some more progress with the Ozawa Urban Defense Brigade finally. With some new black wash that I had run out of, I was able to finish basing the last batch of battlemechs I was working on. I still need to base 4 more mechs that are painted for the unit (Battlemaster, 2 Zeus, and Highlander). I also have another batch of mechs to add to the unit with a pair of Griffins to join the two Wolverines to finish a lance, a Dervish and 3 Centurians to form a lance, a Hatchetman to join the 3 Firestarters to finish a lance, and then a pair of Valkyries that need two mechs to join them to form a lance.
The last picture is of the entire force so far and I'm pleased with how it's coming out so far. If I add any more past the current models in hand, I'll have to figure out another shelf to fit it on. So that is where it all stands at the moment though with the holiday coming up, my mother's birthday as well as my own over the next couple weeks, it'll most likely be a couple weeks before any more progress is posted. I'll see you all next time and thanks for stopping by!

When Urbanization Runs Into Work Stoppage

So I was cruising along making progress on clearing out the Battletech miniatures backlogged but that seems to have run into a wall while I wait to get some needed stuff. I got the other mechs being added to the Ozawa Urban Defense Brigade started on basing with the trim painted, sand added, ... and I'm out of black wash ... Fine, Black Wash is ordered and will be arriving towards the end of the week. So now on to converting the four new Zyclops figures into counts as Ostsols ... and I don't have any more of the bits needed to match the lasers on the torsos so now I have those bits ordered which will be here in a week or so. So then I got out the two partially painted Star Wars vehicles that I got to use for dropships in Battletech and finished painting them. Success, we have something off of the list completed.
With the OUDB stuck to a standstill while waiting for things to arrive, I'll be working on some of the clan mechs to add to my Clan Ghost Bear forces. I had hoped to finish one group of mechs before moving on to more but I want to keep making progress before something happens to knock me out of the mood to get this accomplished. So that's all for now and I should have a post up towards the end of the week on what's been done with the Ghost Bears. Thanks for coming by and see you next time!

Expanding Urbanization

Alright, the productivity has continued and I've made some more progress on the Ozawa Urban Defense Brigade force. All the Urbanmechs have been based so I now have a full battalion of Urbanmechs (including a command lance) for thirty total painted and based Urbanmechs. I also have four Javelin light mechs, three Firestarter light mechs, six SRM Carriers, two Rommel/Patton Tanks, and four Maxim Hover Transports in progress as well as they're being base coated. I've picked up two more of the Lightyear Zyclops/DropPods sets and am looking to get one more. That will let me have two lances worth of assault pods and two full lances of counts as Ostsols as well. I'll be working on these later in the week.
So that's the progress so far. I'm pleased that I've been able to stay focused on clearing out the backlog of miniatures that need to be finished and as soon as the items for the Ozawa force are done, I'm going to start on the rest of the pile of mechs that need a home unit. Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you all next time.

Continued Urbanization

So here we are with an update for the Ozawa Urban Defense Brigade. I've started the basing of all the Urbanmechs with the trim painted around all the bases. I've also added 4 Panthers, 3 Grasshoppers, and a Kintaro to the force as well from the Arkab force I started but never really got going. This adds some more mechs with jump capability with is nice for urban defense. 8 Goblins were folded into the force as well for their nice close range support ability and infantry capacity. They should back up the force well.
I've also made progress on the Lightyear figures I picked up. The two robots are now based and painted. I added a couple bits to show as lasers on the torsos of the models. As to the two Drop Pods, I've got them based and started painting them but need to decide on what color to paint the rest of them. I don't want to make them useable by only one force so might go with another metal color to offset the Vallejo Oily Steel that I have used already.
So that's the progess so far and I'm going to try to keep working on them this weekend. Trying to get a good push in to clear out the backlog of Battletech miniatures and get everything either in a force or slated to be parted with. That's all for now and I'll see you all next time.

All Things Urban

So this blog has also been neglected for quite a while so I'm going to see about correcting this. Recently the Buffet Assault Group received some new equiptment that proved just too tempting for me to not follow the example of. Well, those new requisitions have arrived and are now in the process of being integrated into one of my forces. Originally my twenty, yes twenty, Urbanmechs were set up as a command lance and a full company of part of a self created mercenary force, the Urban(ie) Defense Force. I've recently come across a Davion force I like as a better idea and with the new arrivals will be folding them all into the Ozawa Urban Defense Brigade. This force was almost destroyed in the 3rd Succession War by Draconis Combine's 5th Sword of Light regiment. Since there is no color scheme listed for the unit, I'll be keeping the dark black and metallic colors that I was using for the Urban(ie) Defense Force.
So yes, I pulled the trigger and that is two more companies of Urbanmechs bringing my total to forty. This gives me a full battalion (with command lance) of these wonderful mechs. Other mechs will be joining the force as well. They're already receiving Assassins, Commandos, Demolishers, and LRM Carriers from the now defunct UDF. Other mechs from my pile of unused miniatures will be added to the unit as well, but I've also got a list of mechs I want to add to the unit to continue to round it out. Javelins and Hunchbacks are on the list of mechs I need to see about purchasing for the unit as well as SRM Carriers.
I also purchased this Lightyear item to use with my Battletech as well. I bought it for the two Drop Pods which are perfectly sized to use for assault dropping Battlemechs. Both have this little round bump on the bottom that keeps them from standing up when they aren't opened up, so I will have to see about sanding those off before I repaint them. The droids that came with them though scale just right with Battlemechs as well. I'm going to repaint these as well and plan to use them as Ostsol heavy mechs as with a few added bits they'll look quite close enough to pass. I think I'm going to see about picking more of these up for sure. For $12 and change plus tax, you get 2 of the pods and two units to use as mechs which works out as a pretty good deal.
So that is all for now. I still need to base all those Urbies and then see about getting some of the other mechs painted up as well to join the force. Hope you all enjoyed and I'll see you all next time!
